Hilldrup Companies Achieves ISO 14000 Environmental Management
Status for the Moving and Storage Industry
Stafford, VA. (March 24, 2011) – Hilldrup
Companies announces they have achieved ISO 14000 Environmental
Management status presented by the International Organization
for Standardization (ISO). ISO 14000 is important because it shows
the commitment Hilldrup has to addressing environmental management
concerns and minimizing the harmful effects on the environment.
Achieving this status is an ongoing process of increasing
environmental performance within the company.
ISO 14000 is intended to assess a company's performance in terms
of environmental responsibility. Initially, ISO 14000 began as a
program of voluntary guidelines and certification. The standards
for certification include three major areas: (1) Management systems
- systems development and integration of environmental
responsibilities into a company’s planning. (2) Operations -
consumption of natural resources and energy. (3) Environmental
systems - measuring, assessing, and managing emissions, effluents,
and other waste streams.
