Following the recent impact Hurricanes Harvey and Irma had on Texas, Florida and the Southeast, people from across the nation came together to support those in need.
A few Hilldrup branches partnered with local organizations to collect donations and supplies and helped to transport those goods in donated trailers. So far, nearly 100,000 pounds of supplies have been collected by Hilldrup and our partners in the local markets.
Hilldrup’s Richmond branch partnered with the local CBS affiliate, Virginia Commonwealth University’s men basketball team and The Flying Squirrels, Richmond’s minor league baseball team, to collect and deliver donations to Houston, Texas. At this drive, three Hilldrup semi-trailers were filled with almost 50,000 pounds of supplies.
The Atlanta branch participated in a hurricane relief drive with the Salvation Army, TEGNA, UniGroup and local NBC affiliate 11-Alive. Hilldrup staged a 53’ trailer to receive water and baby, hygiene and sanitation items at the Woodruff Arts Center. These goods were taken to Jacksonville, Florida for Hurricane Irma relief.
In Stafford, Hilldrup’s headquarters partnered with TEGNA and UniGroup to help coordinate a donation drive at Prince George’s County Community College where 19,400 pounds of supplies were collected and taken to Jacksonville, Florida.
The collective efforts of our employees, local partner organizations and local residents is humbling and makes us proud to be a part of communities that give back. We at Hilldrup hope that our efforts will play a larger role in helping those affected to get back on their feet.
