Progress in Motion: Hilldrup’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Commitment
We’re committed to being exceptional stewards of our resources, our people, and our planet. Here’s a glimpse into how our ESG efforts come to life every day.
Hilldrup keeps A World in Motion by driving meaningful impact for our people, customers and all the places their lives may take them.
When our corporate clients trust us with their employee mobility services, they’re not just partnering with us—they’re joining us in advancing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives that make a difference.
We’re committed to being exceptional stewards of our resources, our people, and our planet. Here’s a glimpse into how our ESG efforts come to life every day:
Hilldrup’s Environmental Impacts and Commitment
In an industry that relies heavily on fuel, energy and materials for its operations, Hilldrup is committed to taking every step necessary to protect the environment. From how we conserve energy and natural resources to how we’re committed to meeting and exceeding environmental regulations at all levels, it’s a responsibility we take seriously.
As an organization with a large footprint across the mid-Atlantic U.S., we are dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and having a long-lasting environmental impact in the communities we serve. We have a team that helps hold our company accountable to this work, and every year we’re making strides forward.
Looking at our most recent data, we have:
- Recycled over 800 tons of materials, including packaging, wrapping, and boxes
- Operated 43 California Air Resource Board (CARB)-compliant trucks
- Maintained a younger, more efficient fleet with advanced technologies
- Used EPA Energy Star-compliant computers, printers, and servers
- Diverted 864 pounds of decommissioned furniture and e-waste from landfills
We’re also working toward more sustainable operations, including motion-sensor lighting in offices and warehouses, electronic heavy equipment, and improved recycling processes for cardboard, metal, and e-waste.
Hilldrup’s Social and Community Commitment
At Hilldrup, we know our work is personal. Moving isn’t just about boxes and trucks—it’s about people, their families, and their futures. That’s why we prioritize people in everything we do.
For our team, we foster a culture of wellness and support. From on-site vaccination clinics and wellness fairs to a dedicated mother’s room and an on-site gym, we’re committed to creating a workplace where employees thrive.
For our communities, we’re proud to give back. In 2024, we transported nearly 42,000 pounds of food through our partnership with Move For Hunger, providing 35,000 meals to those in need. This effort also saved 24 tons of CO2, aligning with our environmental goals. Move For Hunger recognized Hilldrup as their 2024 Mover of the Year—a distinction we’re incredibly proud of.
Beyond that, we contributed $82,000 in cash and in-kind support to nonprofits and causes, and our team volunteered 138 hours in the community. We’re also proud supporters of Truckers Against Trafficking, with 105 team members certified to recognize and combat human trafficking. Our goal is to have 100% of our fleet certified by year’s end.
Hilldrup’s Governance Commitment
As a family-owned company, our corporate governance is led from within and balanced with a board of directors and senior management team that is invested in our long-term success and growth.
In addition to Charles W. McDaniel, President and CEO, and Charles G. McDaniel, Chairman, our executive leadership team sets the precedent for ensuring that our mission, vision and values as a company are upheld year after year and generation after generation.
We’ve implemented robust policies to uphold ethical standards across our organization, from safety and anti-discrimination protections to cybersecurity and data governance. Our Driver Review Boards ensure safety on the road, while annual cybersecurity training ensures that we uphold our clients’ privacy and proprietary data. Additionally, we have a variety of policies in place to help maintain consistent ethical standards and corporate behavior across our departments, from safety and discrimination protections to ethical conduct and antitrust guidelines. By maintaining strong governance, we earn the trust that’s essential to every successful relocation and client relationship.
