Hilldrup Collects 40 Books for RUW’s Ready to Learn Book Drive

Did you know 61 percent of lower income children have no children’s books at home? Thankfully, organizations like Rappahannock United Way (RUW) are working every day to improve this statistic, and Hilldrup was more than willing to lend them a hand!

Recently, Hilldrup Stafford employees participated in RUW’s Ready to Learn Book Drive to collect new or gently-used age-appropriate books and organize them into “literacy kits” for local Head Start students beginning kindergarten. A collection box was set up within the main lobby of our Stafford office for books to be dropped off. We also circulated RUW’s Amazon Wish List for employees to order a book online with ease.

Once all donations had been collected, Hilldrup held a small sorting event to organize the books and create the literacy kits within our office. Thank you to Amanda Strawn, Team Lead-Expense & Compliance and Hilldrup RUW Campaign Coordinator, and Jillian Neuhaus, Volunteer Coordinator with RUW, for leading these efforts!

Together, Hilldrup was proud to donate 40 books to RUW’s Book Drive! We understand how critical it is for students in our community to have the resources to excel in the classroom and beyond, and we look forward to hosting this event again!
