Q: How do I prepare for my video virtual survey?

  • You will be receiving a link via text when it is time to begin your survey.  As you prepare for your appointment, we ask that you review the following tips which share how best to prepare for the virtual appointment so that our estimator can quickly and accurately review what items will be staying vs. going during the move.
    • Determine which items you are taking with you. Your estimator will need to know what stays and what goes.
    • Be prepared to show your estimator every room in your house, including all storage spaces. Do not forget your garage, shed and yard.
    • Open all cabinets and closets before your virtual survey begins to expedite the estimating process.
    • Identify any high-value items that are greater than $100 per pound (e.g. antiques, fine china, designer apparel, etc.). Also, indicate any breakables that you may have.
    • Have a tape measure with you. Your consultant may need you to measure items for increased accuracy.
    • The estimator will need you to go outside of your house, regardless of weather conditions, to evaluate accessibility for your moving truck and crew.
  • With your smart device, please keep the following in mind:
    • WI-FI: Make sure your mobile device has an active Wi-Fi (wireless internet) connection. If it is not connected to Wi-Fi, data charges from your phone/data service provider may apply.
    • CHARGE UP: Make sure your mobile device is fully charged prior to your virtual survey.
    • LIGHTS ON: Turn on the lights in every room prior to your virtual survey. This will help the camera stay in focus throughout the entire survey.

Q: Do you sell boxes?

  • For current Hilldrup customers, we can provide gently-used boxes free of charge. Please contact your move coordinator for information on availability and pick-up times. Current customers also have the option to purchase new boxes. Again, simply reach out to your move coordinator to request a quote for this.
  • We do not sell or provide boxes for those who are not Hilldrup customers.

Q: Will someone pick up my discarded boxes and packing materials?

  • This can be arranged with us! Contact your Move Coordinator to schedule a pick up date and time.

Q: Do you offer ballpark pricing for storage?

  • Hilldrup is a full-service provider; however, we cannot give a ballpark price without first viewing the items you’d like to store with us. To request that Hilldrup calculate the approximate weight of your goods and the price to move them, please visit our Get A Quote page.

Q: Can I rent a storage unit in your warehouses?

  • Hilldrup is a full-service moving and storage company.  We do not have self-service storage units.  Our warehouses are reserved for the belongings of those customers who are moving with us.
