My name is Sandy Schaaf, and I am a National Account Manager for Hilldrup. I work closely with our account team members as new moves come in, many of them international, and my job is to help customers understand the process and be their support and guide throughout. My customers may be families or individuals, but either way I am introduced in the very beginning of the move process as planning and coordination gets underway. Sometimes they are experiencing their first move, so clear communication and being mindful that moving can be a stressful event in their lives is especially important. One thing I love about my job is how often I get repeat customers — it’s like catching up with old friends. No matter what, I always listen for their concerns or questions and put myself in their shoes, looking for ways to personalize the process.

What many of our customers may not see is how much work is happening behind the scenes. At Hilldrup, we work as a team, and maintaining great relationships is a major key to our success. I’ve developed relationships, and friendships, with our drivers, team members in the warehouse, office staff, our broader international department and of course our customers too! Relationships make all the difference in keeping communication and trust at the forefront of what we do for customers no matter what challenges come our way.

For over 20 years, I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the Hilldrup family. Having worked for a family owned business previously, I knew the culture I was looking for and I truly found it at Hilldrup. At my very first interview, I felt right at home! Especially with all the challenges that the world and our industry has faced over the last couple of years, it’s refreshing to be a part of an organization that is truly dedicated to taking care of its employees and customers alike.

I think this is why Hilldrup is such a good fit for me and why I’ve built a career here. I was brought up to believe in the value of people and the importance of lending a hand.
