Senior Warehouse Foreman Mike Carr Retires

We thank Mike Carr, Senior Warehouse Foreman, for his efforts and wonderful career at Hilldrup before his retirement in January.

Headshot of Mike Carr

For our Van Operators, warehousemen and customers, having boxes, packing material and crates is vital to the work we do day in and day out at Hilldrup.  We all have Mike Carr, Senior Warehouse Foreman, to thank for the tireless job he did leading these efforts before he retired at the end of January. And while we wish him the very best in his well-deserved retirement, our team has some big shoes to fill!

Mike joined Hilldrup in 2009 after having worked for a freight company for 24 years.  In the 13 years that Mike was with our team, he certainly left his mark, most noticeably as Senior Warehouse Foreman.  In Mike’s warehouse, he ordered, organized and managed all of the packing materials that our teams would use; he assisted customers who came in to buy packing materials; he and his team built all vaults and specialized crates that our Van Operators and crews used when servicing our customers at their homes or in our warehouses; he taught, mentored and managed the team who worked in his warehouse; he led the efforts in the baler room to ensure Hilldrup’s boxes were compressed and recycled appropriately; and he assisted with any efforts to keep the grounds of the corporate facility in good condition.  And that’s all in a day’s work for Mike!  Of his work, Mike humbly said, “I did everything that was my responsibility and did everything that the company asked of me.”

While Mike’s work ethic and commitment is unmatched, his integrity is also worthy of mention as he won the 2020 Value of the Year Award for Uncompromised Integrity.

When asked what he’ll miss most about Hilldrup, Mike said “You work with people so long that they become friends.  I will miss my friends and the things we did together.  As far as the company, they always stood by me, and I appreciated that and tried to give back.  Hilldrup takes care of our people, and not every company feels that way.”

We will certainly miss Mike but wish him well as he plans to travel, fish, relax and spend time with his grandkids and wife.  Our hats off to you on a wonderful career.  Well deserved indeed, Mike!
