Hilldrup Launches 2020 – 2021 Virtual RUW Campaign

So many things have changed during 2020 but the need to support those less fortunate in our communities has never been more important. It’s why Hilldrup is proud to continue our work supporting Rappahannock United Way (RUW)!

In October 2020, Hilldrup officially kicked off our RUW campaign, inspired by this year’s theme, High-Tech, High-Touch Giving. Specifically with this year’s challenges of many Hilldrup employees working remotely due to COVID, we’re excited to utilize technology to increase our levels of giving. Hilldrup’s 2020 – 2021 campaign involves activities where employees can participate remotely and make donations to directly support RUW’s mission of “improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.”

“I know this is an extraordinary year in so many ways, between COVID, social issues and a tough political climate, which we continue to see on a daily basis,” shared Charles W. McDaniel, President and CEO of Hilldrup. “I think the campaign theme High-Tech/High-Touch Giving is the perfect way to describe how we’ve all had to adapt to this year and the challenges it has brought. We are having to rely more on technology than ever before to stay connected, and yet we also are relying on each other and our community to support us in whatever way we may need assistance.”

But while this year’s campaign may look and feel different from those of previous years, Hilldrup is committed to making our efforts both engaging and financially successful regardless of any challenges. In fact, since this year’s campaign is virtual, all Hilldrup locations were able to join our Corporate Headquarters office in participating in the various fundraising activities and events! Thanks to our team’s creativity and agility, there was no shortage of games, raffles and prizes as we kicked things off!

Highlights of this year’s Campaign Kick-off Week included:

  • Monday, 10/26: Virtual Bingo & e-Pledge Raffle
  • Tuesday, 1027: Scavenger Hunt & Virtual Bingo
  • Wednesday, 10/28: Virtual Bingo, 50/50 Raffle Tickets & Silent Auction
  • Thursday, 10/29: Virtual Halloween Costume Contest, Virtual Bingo & 50/50 Raffle
  • Friday, 10/30: Hilldrup Trivia, Virtual Bingo & 50/50 Raffle

There’s no doubt it was a busy week for our RUW committee members and a fun week for all those who participated! We love to see our competitive streaks in action and are thrilled that the funds raised through this year’s Kick-off Week activities exceeded those of last year!
